FCS Showcases New Low-Carbon, Material-Saving Solutions at TAIPEIPLAS

Since its establishment in Taiwan in 1974, FCS has reached its 50th anniversary this year and will meet you at the largest plastics and rubber event in Taiwan, the Taipei International Plastics & Rubber Industry Exhibition (Taipeiplas 2024) from September 24 to 28! At this year's Taipeiplas, FCS will focus on the themes of green energy, carbon reduction, and recycling, showcasing various applications such as intelligent optics, sandwich molding, precision two-component molding, and microcellular foaming technologies, all equipped with the iMF 4.0 Intelligent Manufacturing System, linking four exhibition machines live to share new achievements.

 

"FCS 50 Years · Innovation Never Stops"

In recent years, whether it’s intelligent manufacturing, circular economy, or ESG topics, innovation solutions related to green energy and carbon reduction have been unavoidable. FCS has been implementing MuCell Microcellular Foaming Technology for many years, and it has gained increasing attention under the global push for energy saving and carbon reduction, particularly in footwear applications. In collaboration with one of the world’s top three shoemaking machinery suppliers, Tien Kang, FCS launched the "GENTREX Multifunctional Physical Foaming Injection Molding System" to produce thermoplastic green energy footwear materials. Over a dozen sets of this equipment, worth over NTD 100 million, have been sold. At this exhibition, MuCell technology will also be demonstrated, showcasing its application in optical goggles, offering a material-saving and low-carbon solution.

Innovative Highlight 1: Optical Element Foaming Molding System

This includes the ultra-short series energy-saving injection molding machine SA series and the ultra-precision all-electric injection molding machine CT-e series, both of which will produce optical goggles that can be assembled on-site and worn immediately.

 

 

Outward Toggle Injection Molding Machine (SA Series), is FCS's newly released outward toggle hydraulic servo energy-saving machine, with clamping forces ranging from 100 to 3,200 tons, suitable for household goods, stationery, automotive, 3C, and home appliance industries. Its structural characteristics allow the SA to provide a relatively large opening stroke with a smaller specification and space, making it popular among customers producing deep bucket-shaped products. This time, the SA-160 with a clamping force of 160 tons will be used to automatically produce a four-cavity PC material goggle leg with a cycle time of 35 seconds, fully demonstrating the superior performance of FCS's standard hydraulic machines in high-end precision industries. At the Taipeiplas booth, the MuCell microcellular foaming system will also be showcased, achieving a weight reduction of 8-10% through microcellular foaming.

CT-e Series All-Electric Machine, not only saves 55% more energy compared to traditional injection molding machines but also gains more attention under the global ESG topics. Since its launch, over 300 units have been sold. This time, the 180-ton all-electric CT-180e will be showcased, producing a two-cavity PC material goggle lens with a cycle time of 40 seconds, offering a reference for precision and clean mass production applications in industries such as optics, medical, electronics, and food packaging.

This entire set of precision optical intelligent molding equipment also features the iMF 4.0 intelligent manufacturing system, integrating various intelligent sensing modules, including a automated optical inspection system, mold water flow temperature sensing and control system, tie bar clamping force monitoring system, etc., truly achieving stable mass production monitoring, improving yield, and reducing production waste.

Innovative Highlight 2: Sandwich / Interval Multi-Component Molding System

FB-C Series Sandwich Molding Machine, with clamping forces ranging from 100 to 350 tons, features two independent injection units that can be set at different pressures and speeds, creating different pattern variations, suitable for producing products with distinct dual-color layers, mixed colors, and patterns, or single-color molds. This time, the 150-ton FB-150C will be used to automatically produce a one-cavity ABS material smartphone stationery tray with a cycle time of 45 seconds, aiming to present a refined marble-like office stationery texture. This machine is also equipped with a cavity pressure quality monitoring system to monitor peak cavity pressure, ensuring stable viscosity and quality of the melt, with real-time data connection to the iMF 4.0 intelligent manufacturing system for dashboard management.

 

Innovative Highlight 3: Multi-Component Intelligent Molding System

CT-R Series All-Electric Two-Component Machine, is the annual masterpiece that combines FCS's two major advantages of "all-electric" and "two-component," complementing each other. The precise injection unit has two or more independent material tubes for simultaneous injection, significantly shortening the molding cycle. The electric turntable speed is effectively increased by 30%-50%, and the positioning system accuracy reaches 0.005°, making the injection molded products more precise and stable.

FCS's multi-component injection machines have set new sales records year after year, with cumulative sales reaching NTD 19.2 billion by the end of 2023. The multi-component system offers six injection types, with up to 29 configuration flexibilities, fully covering mold designs or production lines in various industries for multi-station customization. This year at Taipeiplas, the 230-ton all-electric two-component machine will be used, paired with PP and TPE elastomers, to fully automatically demonstrate the production of a dual-color dual-material collapsible basket with a molding cycle of 30 seconds. This molding system also features an energy management module, capable of real-time monitoring and data analysis management of energy consumption through a connection to the iMF 4.0 intelligent manufacturing system.

 

Green innovation, driving towards net-zero, is a challenging but promising goal; through the organic combination of material-saving, energy-saving, and low-carbon molding, FCS can help you achieve a green transformation in injection product manufacturing. Last year, FCS successfully passed the international-level beta-site customer verification with the support of the "Smart Machinery Industry Smart Upgrade Project" promoted by the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. With the "Smart Manufacturing Solution for Plastic Injection Molding of Sports Shoe Soles," FCS successfully entered the NIKE international supply chain. This experience has given the team more confidence and strength to serve related markets, and as of August this year, nearly 40 injection molding machine orders have been received, all serving the footwear industry's production bases in China, India, Southeast Asia, and other countries.

MuCell microcellular foaming injection molding is not only applied to the lightweight and elasticity requirements of shoe soles but can also be used in food packaging, transportation, electrical components, etc., achieving different levels of dimensional stability, reducing warping, weight reduction, insulation, and noise reduction effects. FCS injection machines paired with MuCell dedicated screws and gas injection equipment have successfully helped customers in various industries achieve solutions.
