The EPS Automatic Batch Pre-expander is a critical piece of equipment in the expanded polystyrene (EPS) production line, responsible for pre-expanding raw EPS beads to a specified density before they proceed to molding. This machine automates the pre-expansion process, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and precision—key factors in producing high-quality EPS products for packaging, construction, and insulation.
Raw EPS beads (also called “virgin beads”) are small, hard pellets with a low density (typically 600–1000 kg/m3). Pre-expansion is the process of heating these beads to expand them by up to 50–100 times their original volume, reducing their density to a target range (usually 10–30 kg/m3). This pre-expanded material is more manageable, fills molds evenly, and fuses better during the final molding stage.
