Ultramarine Violet (Pigment Violet 15) is a synthetic, inorganic pigment manufactured by SKU Pigments (P) Limited is closely related to classic Ultramarine Blue. Chemically, it is an aluminosilicate complex containing trapped polysulfide ions within a crystalline zeolite matrix. It is produced through a controlled thermal calcination of Ultramarine Blue in the presence of chlorine or hydrogen chloride gas, which alters the sulfur chromophores responsible for color absorption. The result is a clean, unique violet pigment ranging from soft reddish-violet to cool bluish-violet shades.
