Description
PPA with added fiber and flame retardant, also known as glass fiber reinforced flame-retardant polyphthalamide (PPA), is a high-performance engineering plastic. It’s made from semi-aromatic polyamide PPA as the base, reinforced with glass fibers (GF), and combined with flame retardants to give it excellent fire-resistant properties. PPA belongs to the high-temperature nylon family and is polymerized from terephthalic acid or isophthalic acid. Compared to aliphatic nylons like PA66, it’s tougher and harder, less sensitive to moisture, performs better under heat, and is excellent in creep, fatigue, and chemical resistance. With glass fiber reinforcement and flame-retardant modification, PPA’s mechanical strength, heat resistance, and flame-retardant rating are further improved, reaching the UL94 V-0 flame-retardant standard. It’s widely used in electronics, electricals, and automotive parts where high heat resistance and fire safety are essential.
Electronic and Electrical (Core Applications)
1. Small Circuit Breakers: trip levers, clips, high-temperature internal parts, connectors, relays, switches, power module housings, etc. High CTI value and V-0 flame retardant rating meet electrical product safety standards, can replace PPS fiber-reinforced series.
2. Automotive Industry: Engine components, sensor housings, fuel line elements, bearing seats, pulleys, etc. Excellent heat and chemical resistance makes them suitable for high-temperature engine compartments.
3. Industrial Parts: Pipe valves, gear bearings, pump housings, and other industrial parts that require high strength, heat resistance, and chemical resistance.
4. Medical Devices & Food Contact: Excellent chemical resistance and dimensional stability, suitable for medical devices and food contact products (meets FDA and other certification requirements).
5. Bathroom Products: Excellent hydrolysis resistance, suitable for bathroom parts in hot water environments.
